Concrete Batch Operator - Carthage
Essential Functions
Weigh and measure material, ingredients, and product to ensure conformance to requirements.
Start machines to mix or blend ingredients; then allow to mix for specified times.
Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation,
Stop mixing or blending machines when specified product qualities are obtained; open valves and start pumps to transfer mixtures.
Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands in order to ensure conformance to established standards.
Record operational and production data on specified forms.
Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment and hand tools.
Tends accessory equipment such as pumps and conveyors to move materials or ingredients through production processes.
Read work orders to determine production specifications and information.
Unload mixtures into containers or onto conveyors for further processing.
Dislodge and clear jammed materials or other items from machinery and equipment, using hand tools.
Open valves to drain slurry from mixers into storage tanks.
Clean and maintain equipment using the designated tools.
Inspect all tools and equipment prior to use
Keep batch plant clean of all debris and clutter
Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal proficiency level.
Follow all safety policies and PPE use.
Required Skills and Experience
Preferred three (3) years’ experience as a concrete batch operator
High school diploma desirable.
Valid driver’s license
Competencies
Ability to consecutively perform work accurately and thoroughly.
Able to correctly and consecutively record time and job task data
Possessing the trait of being organized and following the systematic method of performing all job tasks
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are normally Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel to the jobsites is expected for this position.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the shop. Employee must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards when performing manual tasks such as welding or handling various materials. Safely and efficiently operate and use associated tools and equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds in working with materials and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Working Environment
Work is typically performed in an outdoor construction site setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions, walking over rough, uneven, or slippery surfaces, and vibration. Employee may also be exposed to jarring and bouncing, high noise areas, and other job related hazards. Employees are required to wear all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for the position.
