Project Manager - Texarkana

Essential Functions
  • Review and manage job costs on regular basis.
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders when necessary.
  • Coordinate and communicate project activities with inspectors/owner representatives
  • Prepare 3 week look ahead schedule for the project.
  • Review and maintain quality control per jobsite.
  • In conjunction with upper management, assign resources to the project in terms of equipment, labor and material.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork.
 
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience. 
  • At least five years of experience with heavy highway construction.
  • Proven working experience in project management.
  • Understanding and maintaining multi-step/phase projects using Primavera P6 software.
  • Heavy/Highway construction methods and techniques.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to apply appropriate communication techniques to various individuals.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required, demonstrating a consistent commitment and ability to work with diverse work groups and individuals.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Days and hours of work are normally Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.  Overnight travel may be required.
 
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for long periods. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.  Must be able to quickly respond appropriately to unexpected events.
 
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  This work environment will be in a field environment and will be required to work on the job site when necessary and will be exposed to outside weather conditions; exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust; moving mechanical parts; uneven, rough and slippery surfaces and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level is usually loud.
