Concrete Paving Manager - Texarkana/Longview/Lufkin

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for contractor monitoring and oversight of concrete paving.
  • Manage concrete paving crews, equipment and associated subcontractors
  • Interpret and implement construction plans.
  • Ensure quality control and accordance to specifications
  • Understand budgets and control unit cost
  • Manage logistics and coordination with concrete plants, and trucking
  • Confer with managers, sub-contractors, and Project Managers on a daily basis or as needed.
  • Identify any deficiencies (design, quality, schedule, work)
  • Responsible for the safety of crew and must be personally invested in the safety culture.
  • Interviewing, selecting and training employees.
 
Required Skills and Experience
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in heavy civil/transportation
  • Must know how to manage/operate slip form paving equipment
  • Must be able to train others how to operate, resize, and troubleshoot slipform paver
  • Experience with Grade Control and GPS systems
  • Possess strong organizational/scheduling skills
  • Read and understand blueprints/standards (TxDOT preferred)
  • Ability to direct and manage multiple crews and employees
  • Strong understanding of concrete prep and concrete paving
  • Understand budgets and ensure productions are within projected unit cost
  • Enforce Safety and Proper Planning
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Travel
Travel to the jobsites is expected for this position.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Some equipment can be extremely heavy and will require a lot of strength to move or manipulate.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Must have the ability to quickly respond appropriately to unexpected events.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, rough and uneven surfaces, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
