Area Manager - Texarkana

Essential Functions
  1. Develop and maintain a working relationship with the owner or the owner's representative
  2. Read, understand, and plan according to the work specifications and contract responsibilities
  3. Oversee activities leading to optimal progression of project with Superintendents
  4. Anticipate project conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement solutions to avoid issues
  5. Create, update, review, and maintain budget for project
  6. Understand and plan work according to project plans, change orders, shop drawings, subcontracts, purchase orders, and monthly pay estimates
  7. Select and oversee Subcontractors and Suppliers
  8. Generate solutions to stay on time and on budget
  9. Monitor the cost of Equipment/Materials on the project and implement strategies to stay within budget
  10. Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines In P6 CPM
  11. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
  12. Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
 
Required Skills and Experience
  1. Bachelors in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience. 
  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing highway and bridge construction projects.  Preferably with TxDOT.
  1. Proven working experience in project management.
  2. Understanding and maintaining multi-step/phase projects using Primavera P6 software.
  3. Heavy/Highway construction methods and techniques.

  1. Ability to work under pressure and with time restrictions without direct supervision.
  2. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required, demonstrating a consistent commitment and ability to work with diverse work groups and individuals.
  3. Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  4. Positive customer service orientation, with both internal and external clients is required.       
  5. Diligent in demonstrating safe work practices.
 
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Days and hours of work are normally Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.  Overnight travel may be required.
 
Travel
Travel to the jobsites is expected for this position.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, rough and uneven surfaces, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
