Human Resources and DOT Compliance Associate

Key Responsibilities:
 
Human Resources Duties:
  • Administer employee onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Maintain personnel records and ensure data accuracy
  • Assist with benefits and employee inquiries
  • Support recruitment efforts and candidate coordination
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and assist with employee relations
 
DOT & Compliance Duties:
  • Maintain and monitor DOT driver qualification files (DQFs)
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations, including driver eligibility and documentation
  • Coordinate drug and alcohol testing programs (pre-employment, random, post-accident)
  • Track and manage Hours of Service (HOS) records and ELD compliance
  • Monitor driver licenses, medical certificates, and certifications
  • Assist with internal and external audits and safety reviews
  • Maintain vehicle records, including inspections, registrations, and maintenance logs
  • Stay current on DOT/FMCSA regulatory changes and implement updates as needed
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • HR and/or DOT compliance experience, preferably in construction or transportation
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience in highway construction or heavy civil industry
  • Familiarity with safety programs and OSHA standards
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
 
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are normally Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, hours can change due to company demands.
 
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
 
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
