Concrete Finishers

Essential Functions
  • Smooths and finishes surfaces of poured concrete to specified textures using hand tools or power tools, including floats, trowels, and screeds.
  • May signal concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete.
  • Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
  • Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms, using rake or shovel.
  • Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using hand held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
  • Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using power grinder or chisel and hammer, and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
  • Molds expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
  • May produce rough concrete surface, using broom.
  • May mix cement, using hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
  • May assist in subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
  • Notify Superintendent/Foreman of electrical/air-powered operability issues.
  • Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal proficiency level.
  • Follow all safety policies and PPE use.
 
Required Skills and Experience
  • Preferred three (3) years’ experience in concrete form work which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above.
  • Safely and efficiently operate and use associated tools and equipment.
  • High school diploma desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Read, interpret, and work from basic and routine sketches, blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Coordinate the movement of more than one limb simultaneously when operating hand tools.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are normally Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. 

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.  Perform manual labor such as digging or shoveling. Move objects weighing up to 100 pounds regularly. Safely and efficiently operate and use associated tools and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
 
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions, walking over rough, uneven, or slippery surfaces, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
